Expensive Bikes: Should You Buy One?

Just like any consumer product, bikes come in different price ranges. For first-time bikers, it could be challenging to understand why some bikes will go around a hundred dollar price tag while some could even cost like a low-range sedan.

This is why it’s essential to know when to go for an expensive bike and when to settle for a cheap one. You can start by identifying what you get if you go for the heftier price tag.

This blog will help you to decide if buying an expensive bike is worth it.

Should you buy an expensive bike?

If you have enough money at your disposal, then, by all means, go for an expensive bike.

Expensive bikes have higher quality than cheaper bikes. Most of them don’t have a wear-and-tear feature, allowing you to use your bike for longer.

Also–it would be a huge flex! Especially if you take biking professionally or as a serious hobby.

But if you’re going to use your bike as a casual hobby, maybe when running an errand around your city, you can go for a cheaper bike.

After all, having a cheaper bike doesn’t have a less fun cycling experience. You can still enjoy every ride if you equip your bike with essential accessories such as smart bike lights.

These black and white areas are easy.

But what if you’re somehow in the middle–you don’t take cycling as a serious hobby, but you use your bike every day for commuting. Therefore, you want to make the most out of your purchase and get one that you can use for a long time.

You want something good for a lower price. Then we recommend you buy an expensive bike.

And to appease your decision, here are some things you’re getting for going for an expensive bike.

What do you get from an expensive bike?

1. High-quality frame

The frame quality is the first thing that differentiates expensive bikes from cheap ones.

Sure enough, most bikes are made of aluminum frames–but expensive bikes have higher grades.

Aluminum frames often use broader tubing than steel bikes–making them lighter. This improves your riding experiences. You can ride faster and maneuver easier with a lighter bike.

The cheapest bikes are made of steel. While they are still relatively good bikes, they’re not made for daily commuting and rugged terrains. In fact, most bikes that use

2. Excellent brakes and suspension

Two of the most vital features you should consider in buying a bike are its brakes and suspension. Naturally, expensive ones have better features like this than cheap ones.

Expensive bikes have disc brakes–made of a metal rotor and caliper on the wheels. Aside from the accuracy of braking, disc brakes also allow you to use less force when climbing uphill and be more in control when riding downhill.

On the other hand, expensive bikes come with full suspension, which means they have springs in both front and rear. This allows them to withstand bumps safely without affecting your riding experience.

While cheap bikes also have brakes and suspension, they can be downgraded with the parts used and the assembly method. Yes, they have rotors and springs, but they can be low-quality ones prone to rust. And it’s easy to mislook errors if they’re mass produced in factories.

But don’t solely rely on the safety brought by expensive brakes and suspension! You still got to have safety biking accessories–such as smart bike lights–to ensure complete road safety.

3. Warranty

Last but not least, expensive bikes come with good warranty deals.

For most expensive bikes, you can get a replacement unit for damage even within a year of use. Most cheap bikes don’t have this kind of warranty.

Most high-end bike stores also offer repair and maintenance services to their buyers. And here’s one thing we’re going to tell you–whether your bike is expensive or cheap, their maintenance costs more than the purchase price most of the time. So, better get a good deal for that!

Sure enough, it all comes down to your preference and budget. There’s no risk in going for the higher price if you have money to spare. Yet, there’s no shame in going for the cheap option as long as you can make the most out of it.

Customerservive deserves a 5 Star

I ordered the Navi 600 & CubeLite II bundle and recieved it quite fast (I live in Germany). The mount of the Navi 600 got updated and wasn‘t the same as the one on the product page. Unfortunately the updated version couldn‘t fit around my roadbike handlebar. I contacted the customerservice and got a quick solution. They send me over the old mount for free! Now I can use the Navi 600 without any problems. The products are nice aswell and work as they should. Customerservice 10/10 Thanks again!!!

Believe the hype and the cool vids- these work!

These lights are soooooo good!! I have both the Navi 600 front and the CubePro rear. Initially I bought the rear light via an instagram advert as a bit of fun thinking the quality wouldn't be all that great. What a surprise! And they work! Just like they say they do.
